This programme is developed to improve the watch keeping ability of Marine Engineers who are aspiring to excel in their profession at the Operation & Maintenance level. All participants are exposed to the latest sophisticated equipment and technology.

Course Prerequisites

No prerequisites for this training course


Theory lectures on operational procedures are followed up by practical exercises on the simulator and candidates are able to monitor the changes in various parameters, something which is practically impossible to do on board the vessel.

  • Typical drawings and symbols
  • Various Engine Room simulation scenarios using Diesel Electric and 8M32C propulsion plants.
  • Align MSB’s to consumers resulting with main engine and all auxiliaries in automatic control.
  • The correct startup, synchronization, operation, alarm recognition to responses and safety procedures for each engine room simulation scenario.


Upon successful completion of assessments, the student will have confidence in undertaking proper Safe Engine Room Operations and Watchkeeping procedures.

Admission Requirements

Participants must have a COC (STCW 2010, Sections A-III/1 & A-III/2), seaman’s book
